Dear readers,
Here’s a quick one. A lot is happening, and the end of summer feels like a good moment to pick this newsletter back up. I’ve got a few things planned for the coming weeks, and I’d love to make this Substack a more permanent space for the label’s output.
The DETONATOR demo (DBNO-20) dropped about two weeks ago and, from what I can tell, it’s been well received — both locally and in that international bubble that cares about caveman-style HC punk. I’ve got a few tapes left in the shop, so grab one if you’re DOWN WITH THE KURT. News coming soon about their first show and a couple more they’ll be playing this fall.
This is a time we can remember… The FORCE OF DENIAL demo in 2021 was DBNO-02, and the band means a lot to me. So yeah, it sucks to see them play their final show in January 2026. But if you’re gonna go out, you might as well go out with a bang, and this lineup is just that. Tickets are still available, but don’t be slacking. When I started drafting this post, 60% were already gone. EDIT: As I’m about to hit send, it’s already sold out…
My buddy Justus from COLLECTIVE MEMORY RECORDS and I started a fanzine two months ago, and our first feature was FOD. If you want to read us shooting the shit with them over WhatsApp, plus dive into a bunch of reviews, photos, and other bits, drop us a message at fencepostfanzine@gmail.com and we’ll mail you a copy (or a few?). We’ll keep it in print as long as people are into it, and eventually set up a proper shop.
September’s bringing two new DBNO tape releases from two new bands, one from Cologne and one from my home state of Bavaria, if you can believe it! I’m psyched to share them with you once they’re ready.
